ALF

Alien Productions - Coleco, 1986

When I was a kid growing up in the 1990's, I was obsessed with puppet shows of all kinds. ALF happened to be airing through re-runs on Family Channel (Canada's Disney Channel) and from the moment I saw my first episode I was hooked. An ALF plushie would have been a dream come true as a kid but these had likely been out of manufacture for about 10 years by the time I saw the show, and there was no new merch avaiable in stores. Unfortunately it wasn't as simple as it is nowadays to hop on the internet and trawl the web for vintage wares, but when I eventually came across him on an online marketplace I had to have him. For years now the show and this plush have been my comforts, so he's a permanent "bed buddy" and sits up by my pillow every night. :')

Little Details
His fur is very coarse and a little bit rough; I'm not sure if it's one of those furs that sort of "dries out" over time, or if he was that way when he was new. Still, he's in extremely good condition for his age, and he's survived a few trips through the washing machine with excellent results. His eyes are hardly scuffed or scratched, his snoot sculpting is perfectly in tact, and his teeth have not discoloured yellow like some I've seen. Overall, he's in immaculate condition.
